Priyanka: The First Woman in Her Family to Go to College

A CUET guidance session in 2024 opened doors she never knew existed.

Priyanka’s family is from Darbhanga, Bihar, though they have lived in Delhi for the past 18 years. She comes from a Dalit community — and is the first woman in her family to pursue a university degree.

In 2024, while she was in Class 12, her brother came across Trutiya Ratna online and reached out to its co-founders for guidance on the CUET UG exam. That single connection changed the course of Priyanka’s education.

Trutiya Ratna provided her free, voluntary coaching for the exam and, for the first time, showed her the range of universities actually open to her. After her results, she received admission offers from Ambedkar University Delhi, IGNOU, Kerala University, and Ambedkar University Lucknow.

She is now pursuing a B.Voc in Accounting and Finance at Ambedkar University Delhi — with every expense along the way covered by Trutiya Ratna.

Alongside her studies, Priyanka now volunteers with Trutiya Ratna herself — teaching younger girls English as a second language and basic finance management, passing on the kind of support that once changed her own path.

“What they gave me was more than money or guidance. They taught me the meaning of paying back to society. That idea has changed how I see myself and my purpose.”

She hopes that, one day, she’ll be able to give back just as much as Trutiya Ratna gave her — and with her volunteering already underway, that has already begun.
