Prasann Kumari, Co-Founder: Prasann has co-founded Trutiya Ratna with the vision and mission of raising caste consciousness through education in Bihar. Prasann identifies herself as an intersectional feminist. Her idea of feminism is deeply rooted in the inseparability of caste, class, and gender identities and the political assertion of feminist ideology, and she thus strongly believes in intersectional feminism. She comes from a backward/marginalised caste, so her understanding of feminism comes from situated knowledge. Her motivation behind working for human rights and social justice for marginalised women is to address the multi-layered discrimination faced for generations and aim for the radical transformation of society. Her work and activism are strongly grounded in her educational qualifications. She has completed her M.Phil. in Women’s and Gender Studies from Ambedkar University (AUD), New Delhi, India. She is pursuing a PhD in Women’s Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. In her research work, she has critically analysed policies and acts that affect women’s human rights from marginalised sections.
