Women Empowerment

At Trutiya Ratna, women’s empowerment lies at the heart of our Phule–Ambedkarite mission to end caste- and gender-based discrimination. Our approach is rooted in intersectional feminisms, where we acknowledge and challenge the multiple and overlapping forms of discrimination and oppression that women face because of their caste, gender, religion, disability, ethnicity, language, and region. We work to create dignified and equitable spaces for women and girls from historically marginalised communities to pursue education, leadership, and self-determination.

Through our community libraries, education programmes, youth initiatives, and disability empowerment efforts, we have enabled women community educators and students to reclaim their right to learning and autonomy. Training and supporting women community educators has inspired other women in rural Bihar to continue their education and become independent. Many who had dropped out due to financial constraints or early marriage have re-enrolled in school with our support. By preventing child marriages and promoting girls’ education, Trutiya Ratna ensures that women are not only participants but leaders in building an inclusive and just society.

Our work also extends to addressing adolescent health and well-being. We conduct sessions on menstrual and reproductive health and collaborate with partner organisations to provide legal aid and counselling. We have supported women survivors of domestic violence in accessing healthcare, legal rights, and emotional support. Through these holistic interventions, Trutiya Ratna strives to build a society where every woman and girl lives with dignity, safety, and freedom.
