Social transformation requires informed, confident, and critically conscious young people. We nurture leadership through Bal Sabha and reading circles held across our four community libraries.
Idea of the Programme
This programme is built on the belief that social transformation requires informed, confident, and critically conscious young people. Rather than treating leadership as a skill taught in isolation, Trutiya Ratna nurtures it through direct engagement with the social realities young people already live with: caste, gender, disability, and constitutional rights.
When and How It Started — Leadership development grew out of the Bal Sabha and reading circle sessions held at Community Libraries and Knowledge Centres, where discussions on autobiographies such as Joothan opened into broader conversations on caste, gender, and justice.
Area of Operation & Rationale
The programme runs across all four districts of operation — Aurangabad, Jamui, Jehanabad, and Patna — engaging adolescents and youth from the communities the centres serve.
Drawing inspiration from Phule-Ambedkarite values and intersectional feminist principles, we facilitate discussions on caste, gender, disability, sexuality, child rights, constitutional values, and human rights, with strong emphasis on youth leadership and ownership.
Current Scenario
Through Bal Sabha and regular reading circles, participants engage with anti-caste literature and discuss caste, gender, sexuality, mental health, constitutional values, and social justice. Young people are encouraged to facilitate discussions, lead community initiatives, and participate in collective decision-making.
